We hope the rain is not discouraging you from getting fit. If you find yourself torn between a workout and vegging out in front of the TV, then maybe it's time to do a little bit of yoga - a series can last from only 30 mins to an hour. You can either do it on your own (youtube videos will do) or join a local class (there are so many around the metro).
Here are some benefits of yoga:
Tone up without that bulk
Yoga typically incorporates exercises that elongate your body, as they tone, stretch and sculpt your muscles. We're not saying that yoga will make you thin (it could with proper diet) but it can help you achieve the 3 famous L words - long, lean, and lithe.
Although no one treatment works for everyone, several aspect of yoga make it ideal to help with back pain. A practice of yoga twice a week contributes to strength, flexibility, and endurance, which are basic goals for most rehabilitation programs for back pain.
Tune out all that stress
Gail's (co-founder) yoga series starts and ends with Savasana (corpse pose). This pose allows your body to melt into your mat and earth to help ground the mind. The slow breathing makes you aware of the present to release any stressful thoughts.
