From just an Instagram profile to an arts and crafts supplies powerhouse, the fast-paced growth of The Craft Central started out in 2014 as an online shop that sold beginner-friendly calligraphy products. When Alexis Ventura, the calligraphy artist behind Ink Scribbler (the Instagram turned full-blown calligraphy brand), decided to expand to a physical retail store, she partnered up with other artists and crafters to represent more than 70 crafts in her store. It became so big of a craft central that they decided to put one up in the North -- their recently opened and biggest branch yet in The Block, SM North EDSA.
Their second store in Greenbelt 5 opened in September 2016 and is home to house-branded inks, brushes, pads, and starter kits. They are also the home to craft partner brands such as Diyalogo, whom PdP had previously partnered with to come up with our Diyalogo Daily Organizer, Pouch, and Wallet. Aside from local art brands, they also house hard-to-find and coveted art materials from brands such as Cassy Kicks, Sakura, and Tokyo Finds.
But they’re not just art suppliers, they are also mentors. They host workshops that tackle different modes of making art such as basic watercoloring to brush calligraphy to sticker making all for affordable prices in their spacious workshop spaces. Participants get to learn more about the different crafts from their partner suppliers and their workshops come inclusive with materials, from the tools you’ll be using to stencils and practice pads you can use at home.
Their stores also have workshop spaces that allow you to start getting crafty then and there and to collaborate with other artists. Lacking inspiration will never be a problem with the abundant colors and materials that go from wall to wall in their stores.
In Punchdrunk Panda, we believe that collaborations between brands and artists are what make great products. This is why we believe that we fit perfectly in our new home with The Craft Central, Greenbelt 5 and North EDSA (yasss!).
The Craft Central can be found in malls and resellers around the Metro. Follow them on Instagram @thecraftcentral or go to their site, www.thecraftcentral.com to see what else they have in store for you.
