Artists and crafters, rejoice! Common Room Rockwell has reopened its doors to bring back art, crafts, and nouveau items in Makati City.
The beginnings of what would be an artist’s haven began back in August 2015. Sisters Roma and Maan Agsalud of PopJunkLove wanted to create a physical space where fellow artists and crafters could showcase and sell their items aside from bazaars and online stores. They also wanted to make it a collaborative space for amateur and professional artists alike, providing a workshop area where people can make their art. They hosted numerous workshops in their stores since then.
A mere year after they opened their first store in Katipunan, they launched another branch in Rockwell Power Plant Mall. It was almost twice the size of their flagship store, housing more brands and arts-and-crafts items for South people to enjoy. Sadly, it closed to give way for the mall expansion that were done beginning in December 2016. Makati crafters’ hearts were broken when it did. But the wait is finally over! Their Rockwell store reopened last May 12, 2018. They’ve been chronicling their journey back to Makati on their social media platforms with the hashtag #FinallyCommonRoomPHxRockwell. They tapped fellow artists to decorate their space with murals and floating paper cranes, echoing the whimsical and cozy atmosphere of their other branches in Katipunan and Alabang Town Center.
Wall to wall shelves filled with items you can use in writing, painting, drawing, sewing, knitting, carving, crocheting, and all other artistic endeavors you can think of. An artist’s dreamland come to life, Common Room PH has grown to house thousands of products and hundreds of local and foreign art brands since they began in their small, cozy store in Dela Rosa Street.
Variety is the spice of life and the secret to Common Room PH’s success. While popular for their arts and crafts materials they have in all their stores, they also sell novelty items that non-artists will love. From bookmarks to drink holder floaters, their selection of novelty items will surely pique the interests of the shoppers that drop by their store. Home decor are also available in their modest stores. Linen sprays, room scents, soap, glassware, woven baskets, cork coasters, houseplants, wooden decor, and pillows are all available for sale in their Rockwell branch.
